NEREC (Network for Economic Research on Electronic Communications) is a non-profit organization created to promote high-quality economic research in the field of European electronic communications focusing on competition and regulatory issues.
The Goals of Nerec
- To promote independent economic analysis in the field of electronic communications in order to make practical contributions to the functioning of the sector.
- To bring expertise, balance and informed debate to the public discussion of policy decisions by strengthening the link between independent economic research and policy-making.
- To encourage both the supply of researchers and the demand of economic policy research.
- To enhance the training of researchers, employees in competition and regulation economics.
- To promote the collaboration of NEREC with economic research centers from other regions of the world to allow a better knowledge of regulation and the functioning of the electronic communications sector outside the European Union.
NEREC research activities are determined by an Advisory Board drawn from industry, consultants, universities and research centres, regulators, competition and other government agencies.
