The deadline of the public consultation is 24 July 2009, and the Commission plans to adopt the final Recommendation before the end of 2009.
The Commission had put forward its first draft Recommendation on the regulated access to Next Generation Access Networks at the end of 2008.

UK: Ofcom has published a statement on the regulatory environment for next generation access (“NGA”) investment. Ofcom’s approach to NGA regulation is to allow wholesale pricing flexibility to enable returns appropriate to the considerable risks of building new networks (but constrained by the market in the interests of customers) and to ensure that any regulatory pricing allows investors the opportunity to earn a rate of return that genuinely reflects the cost of deployment and the associated level of risk.
